Trouble In Tahiti – August 25, 2018

This summer Twickenham Fest will perform Leonard Bernstein’s Trouble In Tahiti to celebrate the composer’s centennial birthday on Saturday, August 25. Making special guest appearances in the lead roles are Marcus DeLoach and Heather Johnson.
Leonard Bernstein began writing Trouble in Tahiti on his honeymoon in 1951 between his Broadway successes of On the Town and West Side Story. The score is a path-breaking fusion of lyric art with popular entertainment. The story is a candid portrait of the troubled marriage of a young suburban couple, with many of the themes echoed in modern works like the popular television hit Mad Men.

It’s entirely possible that the 20th century repertoire offers no more hilarious or eloquent testament to the emotional power of music than ‘What a Movie,’ the centerpiece aria from Leonard Bernstein’s 1951 one-act opera ‘Trouble in Tahiti.’” – Joshua Kosman, San Francisco Chronicle

Early ticket registration for donors at any level begins July 13. General tickets become available to the public, free of charge, on August 1.
