These volunteers meet, greet, and assist concertgoers as they arrive. Positioned around the grounds and in the Concierge information booth before, during, and after concerts, these well-trained volunteers are the “go-to” people for questions. They are easy to recognize with their Twickenham Fest shirts and welcoming smiles.
Concert Program Captain
From time to time, concert-related information needs to be placed inside each of the program books for the audience members. Volunteers assist house management staff with this at Church of Nativity or Cooper House prior to the performance. Inserts are usually placed in program books every afternoon of weekend concerts from 2-3 pm. Volunteers work with house management on an as-needed basis.
We are always looking for volunteers from the theater world who can help us execute the technical side of our concerts. Please get in touch if this sounds like you. Volunteers work with house management on an as-needed basis.
Commitment: Two weeks in August. One, 1 hour training course is required. Volunteer shifts vary throughout the performance week.
There are a variety of ways to help provide hospitality for our visiting guest artists. Artists travel to Alabama from all over the world. They rely on supporter housing and typically arrive without vehicles. They rehearse during the daytime hours the week preceding Twickenham Fest and rely on donated meals from the community. From housing, to rehearsal meals, to transportation around town, please help us show our artists the southern hospitality for which Alabama is world famous.
Commitment: Volunteers can host one or more artists, provide one or more lunches throughout the Festival, really it's up to you!
Volunteers are used in a variety of ways to help execute many donor-related special events each summer. The bulk of volunteers assist at pre-concert donor appreciation events. Volunteers welcome attendees and help serve food and drinks throughout the event. Other vital tasks include assembling materials prior to an event, checking in guests at the registration table, and serving food and drinks at intermission.
Commitment: Availability the week of August 20-26, 2018.
The Marketing department relies on volunteers to help get the word out by distributing posters and flyers throughout the community.
Distributing beautiful posters throughout the Tennessee Valley is an important way for the Festival to promote upcoming events. This is a great way to meet people, be out and about, and let locals and visitors alike know about the free classical music concert series available to them each August.
Concert Date & Time Distribution
The Fest produces a one-page calendar that allow visitors and locals alike to see the most complete and current schedule of events for each day of the week. Volunteers distribute this marketing material throughout town including local business, event venues, and outlying locations along designated routes. It’s a great way to be out and about, speaking with folks about Twickenham Fest.
Commitment: This need runs from July 15-August 29. Posters are distributed once a week on Mondays during the summer Fest season. Volunteers cover routes around the Huntsville-metro area so a car is needed.
Many visitors to Twickenham Fest want to remember their musical experiences by purchasing a memento. The merchandise station is located just outside the main entrance to the performance venues. It carries a variety of gifts such as T-shirts, season posters, and other items. Volunteers help customers and sell merchandise.
T-Fest Tea Stand
The Tea Stand is open before concerts and throughout intermission whenever there are concerts before 10 p.m. Volunteers make tea, set it out and sell it to concert-goers.
Commitment: Merchandise is available during the first scheduled events of the day. Of the shifts available, volunteers select those that best fit their schedules.
